This has come in the form of job automation and artificial intelligence (AI), where the value of human labor decreases resulting in massive losses of jobs. Approximately 47 percent of the entire US work force is predicted to phase out with the progression of automation and AI.

Before Obama left the White House, he left a strong message for Americans stating that strong measures need to be taken in order to prevent millions of job losses. So far, there have been two major proposed solutions to these concerns: Universal Basic Income (UBI) and robot taxes.

Amazon Is Convinced Alexa Has First Amendment Rights

Invoking AI Rights

An Amazon Echo is being viewed as a key piece of evidence in an ongoing murder investigation in Arkansas dating back to 2015. Police want to access the voice recordings from the device’s built-in virtual assistant Alexa. They’ve issued a warrant for the Echo audio covering a 48-hour period from November 21, 2015 through the following day, as well as for the device’s subscriber and account information.

Amazon obliged the warrant’s request for the subscriber information and purchase history, but Amazon protested the release of the audio recordings in a lengthy argument against the warrant that it filed last week. In the 90-paged memorandum, Amazon attempted to quash the warrant with the argument that both the human user and Amazon’s artificially intelligent (AI) virtual assistant Alexa have First Amendment rights that protect their speech.

Do we really need autonomous cars?

Google driverless car at intersection.gk

Autonomous means having the capability to self-govern. Autonomous refers to good performance under specific uncertainties in the environment, for a period of time and the ability to compensate for the system failures without any external intervention. These cars are automobiles that have the capacity of apprehending the environment and mapping in it without any instruction by humans. They can perceive their surroundings using variety of skills that includes Odometry, radar, GPS and lidar. These facilitated control systems elucidate information to judge navigation paths and any obstacles or important signage. These cars have sensors, which have the capability of analysing sensory data to differentiate between numbers of cars on road.
